This satanically (satan: that which keeps us from seeing God) inspired work (the book) has caused crisis within my own family. In my travels I overhear comments of praise for Dan Brown’s insane and unreasoned attack on Christianity and I wonder at how easily and willingly seemingly educated and cultured people accept this garbage. The first Adam & the first Eve were so much more innocently deceived than we “moderns” who have been given the gifts of the teachings of the early church fathers, the Revealed Word and 2000+ years of Apostolic traditon, we who are sighted and still will not see. “Oh my Jesus forgive us our sins, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of Your Mercy”!!!
I will boycott the film. I will post information on this subject on my two christian websites. If anyone knows of site related to the boycott let me know.

Since the movie is a “SONY” product, I intend to boycott any and all SONY products and services!

I love this book, and film, and it’s about time the Catholic church own up to it’s historical past and heritage. Christians demonized pagans and goddess worship, and created an ego-centric, fraternal male influenced religion. Get over yourselves and admit where you came from.

It’s interesting that while on the one hand Catholics are accused of worshipping Mary as the mother of God or as a goddess herself, while at the same time being accused of demonizing goddess worship and of being a male chauvinist dictatorship. What I have learned is that both accusations are untrue.

The book and the movie are works of fiction. Any good Christian knows this….and if anything, the movie will get people to pull out thier bibles and read it, which they might not have done in a while. If you are a true chrisitan believer then there is nothing wrong with going to see this movie. You might as well boycott the entire world and all goods and services because they all have a pagan or sinful element. Will you boycott Nike because they run sweatshops and take advantage of little kids? Will you boycott Disney because they won’t banish homosexuals? Will you boycott the History Channel because it runs show about interpretations of the end of the world and who Jesus was? How about McDonald’s, because I think Ronald McDonald, even though he gives a lot to chariry, is gay?
Ronald McDonald, gay? Never thought about that before… Hmmm… Gives a new meaning to the “Happy Meal.” :-(
I understand what you’re saying, and I agree that the book and movie are works of fiction. These movies are not perils to Catholics who understand their faith… but when advertised as ‘hidden truths,’ they remain dangerous to people who may not have a strong foundation.
True, the onus is upon each Christian to study the Scripture that has been passed down to us through the ages; scripture that has continually been validated as inspired writing; scripture that has withstood heresy after heresy and one misdirected cult after another.
But the problem arises when you have an increasing population of Catholics (and other Christians) who are poorly schooled in the Faith. They don’t know what to believe, because they haven’t been taught what to believe, or because they didn’t accept what was being offered them. Along comes a book or movie that purports to be a deep, uncovered ‘truth’ — and it breeds further confusion, misunderstanding and misdirection.
I don’t think one needs to boycott Sony or Nike or Disney or the History Channel — Although some of the things they do may be immoral or against the tenets of our Faith, they are not blatantly heretical and anti-Catholic. But I do think that we Catholics should boycott or protest anything in the media that is anti-Catholic. If there is one prejudice that has been tolerated in the American media, it is anti-Catholicism… and it is time for that to end.

Consumers vote with their dollars. Like any commercial enterprise, Hollywood judges the success of their product by tickets sold. Rather than contributing to the abuse of our faith by buying a ticket or the book, the money could be put to positive use by making an extra charitable contribution to say…Ronald Mcdonald House. Oui? Non?
